Are You Fully Using the Greatest Gift You’ve Been Given?

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God.” (Ephesians 2:8)

Let me be honest with you.

There’s a Christmas gift I received years ago that I’ve never used. It was given with love, good intention, and thoughtfulness… yet it still sits untouched. Every year, I tell myself, “Maybe next time.”

It’s harmless on the surface, but it reveals something deeper.

We don’t always steward gifts well, even the ones given freely and joyfully. And while an unused tie or forgotten perfume may not matter much, there is one gift we cannot afford to leave sitting in the closet of our lives.

The gift of new life in Christ.

Through grace and faith, we’ve been given something extraordinary, not just salvation for eternity, but access to a transformed life right now. Yet many believers unconsciously treat faith like a keepsake rather than a living, active force.

We focus heavily on heaven later and overlook the abundance Jesus promised today.

But Scripture is clear: the life Jesus offers is not limited to what happens after we die. It’s a present reality, marked by peace, joy, clarity, and purpose. You’ve likely seen it in others: a calm confidence, a grounded presence, a quiet light that radiates from the inside out.

That life is available to you.

But it doesn’t activate automatically.

Abundant life grows as we grow, through prayer that anchors us, Scripture that renews us, worship that reorients us, service that stretches us, and generosity that loosens our grip on fear and control. These aren’t religious checkboxes; they are formative practices that align our hearts with God’s design.

Faith, when stewarded well, changes how we live, lead, love, and decide.

So here’s the question worth sitting with as this season unfolds:

Are you actively using the gift you’ve been given, or is it quietly collecting dust?

This year, let’s not allow our faith to remain symbolic or seasonal. Let’s live it fully. Let’s steward it intentionally. Let’s step into the abundant life Jesus promised, not someday, but now.

Because the greatest stewardship lesson isn’t about what we own.

It’s about how we live.
